Job Classifications

Full-time Employee – An employee whose standard work week is 37.5 hours per week or more.

Half-time Employee – An employee who works at least 20 hours per week, but less than 37.5 hours per week.

Temporary Non-Benefited Employee – An employee who is hired in a job established for a temporary period or for a specific assignment. Temporary non-benefited employees may not work in excess of 1,000 hours over a one (1) year period.

Exempt Employee – An employee who is paid on a salary basis and is not eligible for overtime pay. Ìý

Non-Exempt Employee – An employee who is paid based on hours worked. Non-exempt employees are eligible for paid overtime.

Union Employee – An employee whose position is subject to the Agreement between the ¿ì»îapp and Local 1572, State Council Number 18 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL- CIO (AFSCME).

Student Worker Ìý– An individual whose primary association with the ¿ì»îapp is as a student, but who also is paid by the University for work performed. For more information about student employment, visit https://career.du.edu/channels/student-employment/.
