Program allows students to get two degrees while studying abroad

How鈥檚 this for an awesome opportunity? Spending two years abroad in Sweden while earning a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 快活app and a master鈥檚 degree from Lund University (LU). Last week, the 快活app entered into a new partnership with LU. It will allow students to study three years in Denver before studying abroad in Sweden for two years.

This collaboration 鈥 initially available to students in the听听and in听Gender and Women鈥檚 Studies听鈥 is the first in a series of partnerships among different programs. 鈥淭his is a unique program that gives 快活app students that chance to not only study abroad at one of our partners, but to get a graduate degree at one of the world鈥檚 best research universities,鈥 says Luc Beaudoin, associate provost at the听Office of Internationalization.

Here鈥檚 how the new 3+1+1 program will work: Participating students will study for their first three years as an undergraduate at 快活app. For their fourth year, they will study at LU under 快活app鈥檚听Cherrington Global Scholars听study abroad program. Upon successful completion of their fourth year, they will receive a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 快活app and enroll at Lund University for a fifth year, where they will pursue a one-year master鈥檚 degree.

鈥淭his type of program is highly unusual,鈥 Beaudoin says. 鈥淚t needs to have a robust study abroad program to work in the first place, one that integrates the systems of two universities so that students can meet 快活app鈥檚 graduation requirements while spending their senior year abroad. Then, it must have the right experience to be able to succeed in Lund鈥檚 graduate programs.鈥

Lund University is one of northern Europe鈥檚 oldest, largest and most prestigious universities. Located in the city of Lund, it consistently ranks among the world鈥檚 top 100 universities. Approximately 42,000 students study within one of the 276 educational programs offered at LU.
