Lamont Fall Season Opens

International themes and performers from China to South America make up the highly anticipated 2016 fall season at the Lamont School of Music. Chinese听and American soloists, operatic voices and dance artists will join the Lamont Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of 鈥淥de to Nature.鈥 The dance oratorio is composed by Beijing鈥檚 Zhou JiaoJiao and consists of dramatic costumes and digital theatrical art direction.

鈥淚t is rare to find an opportunity for Americans and Chinese to share the arts in a manner that is historically important and truly worthy,鈥 says Dennis Law, producer of the dance oratorio. 鈥溾極de to Nature鈥 shall deliver a message of hope for the world by both entertaining the audience and by showcasing the cross-cultural display of excellence by Chinese and American performing artists.鈥

The international 鈥淕uy Mendilow Ensemble鈥 will feature guest artists from Israel, Palestine, Argentina, Japan, the United Kingdom听and the U.S. The ensemble will perform 鈥淭ales from the Forgotton Kingdom.鈥

The new season will also feature the international 鈥渟tar power鈥 of a number of guest artists. Grammy-nominated and Cuban-born classical violinist Andr茅s C谩rdenes, an intensely passionate and personally charismatic artist, opens the CATS Series (Celebrated Artist-Teacher String Series).

Lamont Jazz features the Lamont Jazz Orchestra performing with Frank Greene, a former Maynard Ferguson Band trumpeter and member of the 鈥淟ate Show with David Letterman鈥 orchestra.
