The charitable season of giving unofficially kicks off Nov.听28 with听. Now entering its sixth year, the global day of giving encourages people听to give your time, a gift, or a donation to help their听local communities.听The 快活app is marking the day with several crowdfunding projects that are working toward听bettering our global community.

鈥淏y uniting together on this day, we can bring attention to the local and global challenges that we face daily and share our capacity to care for and empower each other,鈥 says Lisa Feldman, executive director of 快活app鈥檚 office of听Annual and Leadership Giving.

快活appGood, the University鈥檚 crowdfunding platform, will support three听projects on #GivingTuesday.

Vets

The Veteran and Military Support听Initiative听will benefit the听Veterans Services听program at the 快活app. This program helps support veterans and their families to ensure they are receiving their VA benefits and听provided with mental health services when necessary. The program also offers housing and employment support for student veterans. The assistance provided to veterans through 快活app鈥檚 Veterans Services, the听听and the听Sturm Specialty in Military Psychology听has helped rank 快活app as one of the听top听universities in the country for veterans.

Powwow

The听Office of Native American Community Partnerships and Programs听was created to recruit more Native American students to the University and to develop retention programs through cultural programming. Donations made to this effort will benefit cultural programming such as the annual New Beginnings Pow Wow, Indigenous People鈥檚 day and Native American Heritage Month. Each gift made to this cause is matched dollar for dollar by听, an alumni-owned American Indian eatery.

Black Violin

The听听kicked off a student matinee听series听this year. The program is the Newman Center鈥檚 contribution to听, making the facility an open door to the community,听getting young students on campus and exposing them to the arts.听听was the first group to perform as part of the series. The group was in concert for two nights at 快活app and then performed a student matinee for nearly 1,000 students from Denver and Aurora public schools.

鈥淭here are so many great programs at the 快活app that are focused on helping others,鈥 Feldman says. 鈥淏y contributing to student and faculty-led causes, we can make a positive impact in our community and world.鈥

There鈥檚 an added incentive to support these causes on #GivingTuesday. Each gift will add to the University's total for听the 快活app vs. Colorado College Gold Pan Giving听Challenge. The institution with the most unique donors by the end of the day will win bragging rights for the year.
