Past Event: C+V Community Talk With the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX: A Discussion on the Department of Education鈥檚 Proposed Title IX Regulations

On July 12, 2022, the U.S. Department of Education published proposed Title IX regulations for public comment. The Department鈥檚 proposed Title IX regulations seek to clarify and modify the August 2020 regulations. 快活app recognizes the changes, if implemented, would alter the way colleges and universities respond to gender-based violence.

Community + Values in partnership with the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX will be hosting a C+V Special Edition Community Talk to discuss the proposed Title IX regulations, what it means for our community, and how community members can provide feedback to the Department of Education. Provost Mary Clark will moderate a panel discussion focused on the proposed changes and their anticipated impact.

Past Event: C+V Special Edition Community Talk with the Women鈥檚 Coalition: A Discussion on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women鈥檚 Health Organization U.S. Supreme Court Decision

The U.S. Supreme Court, on June 24, 2022, issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women鈥檚 Health Organization (Dobbs), overturning Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992). 快活app recognizes that this decision directly affects many in our community.

Community + Values in partnership with the Women鈥檚 Coalition of 快活app will be hosting a C+V Special Edition Community Talk to discuss the Court鈥檚 decision and what it means for our community and beyond. Provost Mary Clark will moderate a panel discussion focused on the reasoning informing and the impact of this decision, and will do so through multiple lenses and perspectives.

C+V Hiring 2022-2023 Graduate Fellows

The Community + Values Graduate Fellows for the Office of the Provost will serve as the project management support for the initiative as a whole. The Community + Values initiative is an initiative to build community and a sense of belonging and to explore what values we hold. We carry out this work through different events, programs, initiatives, and communications.

Join us either in-person or on Zoom for our upcoming Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) event at 快活app. As GAAD states, 鈥淭he purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.鈥 Come learn and talk together as we hear from a panel of 快活app community members about their stories and experiences. Learn more about how you can ensure accessibility is a core part of our community and about actions you can take today.

In April we are celebrating Autism and Neurodiversity Acceptance Month as well as World Autism Awareness Day which was on April 2. More than 5 million Americans live with autism and yet there are still many of these individuals who experience inequities in employment, housing, and income. How can we as a community raise awareness and promote acceptance to ensure changes are made to improve the quality of life for neurodiverse individuals and their families?

This month鈥檚鈥疻omen鈥檚 Herstory Community Talk鈥痠s a part of the phenomenal annual Her快活app conference and draws inspiration from the conference theme, inspired by bell hooks: Justice. Provost Mary Clark and community panelists will delve into the need for a community-based approach to truly transform institutions and greater society. In order to see this true transformation, communities of support for all women are critical, as systems are challenged and new ways of carrying out work are brought to the forefront. 快活app is honored to support seven unique and empowering communities of support for women at 快活app. This鈥疌+V Community Talk鈥痺ill dive into why it is so important to be in community together as women.听

Following the MLK, Jr. Heritage Month C+V event, the Black History Heritage Month panel will continue the conversation of 快活app鈥檚 past, present and future relationship with the Black community through a lens of justice, with the intent to actionize the DEI Action Plan, Impact Area 4, Build Specific Support for our Black Community. Given their psychological, political and historical expertise, the panelists will highlight their shared experiences at 快活app and how they relate to the contemporary fights for justice, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
