Women are still achieving “firsts” in various disciplines, leadership, and industry. In this conversation we ask some trailblazing women who are firsts in their positions in institutional leadership about the experience of shattering glass ceilings and the continuing struggle to shed patriarchal systems of thinking and practice.

We want to take you back to mid-March 2020. Denver was on high alert and shutting down. Businesses and schools closed. Events were cancelled. ���app suspended on campus operations and went online on March 11th. We needed community more than ever. And so, on March 19th, we held our first C+V webinar and over 250 people Zoomed in. Since then, we’ve had thousands of community members attend our webinars. Experts from within our ���app community have led us in thinking and talking about what how we’re experiencing the uncertainty, hardship, and loss, as well as the innovation, celebration, and resilience of the human spirit. Now, 343 days later, on February 25, we are going to ask a new question and move the conversation from ‘how are we going to get through a health pandemic and a racial pandemic?’ to ‘Who do we want to become because of all we’ve experienced and learned?’

Join us for a Heritage Months initiative in partnership with C+V

In honor of Black History Month, Dr. Andriette Jordan Fields, ���app's Black Community Experience Coordinator, will host a conversation with Stephanie O'Malley, Associate Vice Chancellor for Government Relations and Community Affairs, and Matthew Solomon, President of the Black Student Alliance. They will speak from their lived experiences and expertise about race, space, and how to build and maintain a recognized Black community at ���app.

We know that this year and the physical distancing measures have presented new challenges for all of us. It's more important now than ever before that we feel supported and in community in our daily lives. In that spirit, C+V and the Office of the Provost would like to invite you join us for some free healthy snacks and coffee and some human connection while practicing physical distancing protocols!

To honor individual and communal wellness through these times, C+V is excited to announce the launch of the��Creatively Navigating Resource Hub, a C+V initiative designed to share and uplift opportunities for the ���app community for mindfully, creatively, bravely, and compassionately navigating these challenging times together, as a community.��This initiative will serve as a resource hub for ���app that will highlight ways to engage and build community while focusing on our wellness as we continue to traverse these changing times.��

It's up to each one of us to help bring it back, through meaningful dialogue and solutions-oriented conversations about the issues that matter most to you and your community, in spaces that challenge while they protect and allow you to work toward a better tomorrow, together.��

A Community Table is an online platform through which you can engage in structured, meaningful, solution-oriented conversations about the issues that matter most to you and your community.��In partnership with���ٱ����پ������Dz������,��The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,��and��Community��+ Values, ���app Grand Challenges provides the tools (sample invitations, conversation guides, facilitation training webinars, and��more) that you need to host or join��a��conversation.��Community members have the option of hosting their own conversation or joining one of our predetermined open conversation spaces.

The first of three open conversation spaces��will be happening next week, January 28th, 11AM - 12PM, during our C+V webinar.

After the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, we know that many are looking for support and spaces to talk with one another about these events. Therefore, in order to serve the community and help each other feel connected during these challenging times, Community + Values has compiled a list of programs, events, and resources for the ���app community.��

The resistance to slavery and the Transatlantic Slave trade began at the very instant that Africans were first enslaved by colonizing forces from western Europe. The movement advancing the liberation of Black people has taken various forms over the centuries. From the everyday acts of resistance by enslaved people to the organized underground railroad; from the “Turn around Tuesday” to “Black Lives Matter”; generations of Black activists have staunchly advanced the ideal of human rights for all despite pervasive racism and systemic oppression.

In this panel we bring together three generations of Black scholars, thinkers and activists to reflect on the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jnr. and the continued struggle for Black Liberation.

Because C+V carried out our Special Edition Community Talk on 11/4 and is working as a partner for the ���app Grand Challenges A Community Table: Special Election, which kicks off on 11/10, we will not be holding a webinar on 11/12.

At this point, to say that 2020 has been challenging feels like an understatement. C+V and �ٱ����پ������Dz������, in partnership with the Center on American Politics, invites the ���app community��to watch a virtual fishbowl dialogue of participants that represent a broad range of social identities, political affiliations, beliefs, experiences, and cultures. This will not be a time for debate on hot topics or party ideals; rather, the viewers will watch the participants dialogue about the values and experiences that have shaped their political identities. By telling and hearing our stories, we can engage with politics without contention, which will better enable us to understand and empathize with each other.��
