Crimson Compost was launched by the Center for a Regenerative Future in January 2022, for those who wish to have access to secure听composting facilities. The program was created to encourage听faculty, staff, and students living near campus in听multi-unit rentals, where听access to the City of Denver鈥檚 compost program is typically unavailable, to continue or听begin听composting 鈥 a crucial step in helping to divert waste from the landfill.听听
Members will have听access a secure bin found at the听old听English Learning听Center听(in the alley between Josephine and Columbia, at Asbury)听to听dispose of their compost.听Crimson Compost makes it easy to get started with in-home compost collection while also providing support with any questions that a member may have.听听

Membership Costs
Crimson Compost looks to make composting not only accessible but affordable. Compared to other composting services, Crimson Compost was designed with student budgets in mind and created to support university sustainability endeavors from proceeds.听
We offer three different membership types, depending on the size of your home:听
- Apartment Membership (1-2 people in home) - $8 per month听
- Household Membership (3 or more people in home) - $12 per month听
- Fraternity or Sorority House Membership - $75 per month听
Members have the option to pay monthly (with manual or automatic payments), or to听do听a one-time payment for an entire academic year (September through November and January through June) OR calendar year (September through听June). Those who choose to do a one-time payment will receive a discount 鈥 10% for an academic year or 15% for a calendar year.听

Member Benefits
Crimson Compost members will receive a welcome kit when they join. This kit includes:听
- A two-gallon compost bucket with sealable lid听
- 10 compostable bucket liners to get you started (you can purchase additional liners at most major grocery stores 鈥 just make sure they say 鈥渃ompostable鈥)听
- A magnet with most compostable items listed on it听
- A welcome letter that describes how the program works and what you can compost听
Additionally, members will get a monthly email with the access code to the compost dumpster for that month, plus tons of tips, tricks, and information about waste and compost on campus and around Denver. Members will also听have access to composting experts at the Center for a Regenerative Future, who are able to answer any questions听you might have.
